What Is Flavorful Foundations?
Flavorful Foundations is a complete, Science of Reading-aligned K-12 literacy curriculum developed by Chalk & Eraser, Inc. It is not a phonics kit or supplemental program. It is a fully integrated system combining curriculum, professional learning, and a digital platform to support reading, writing, and intervention from kindergarten through 12th grade.
The culinary theme is instructionally meaningful. It creates a consistent structure and shared language that students and teachers use across every grade level.
Most programs separate what should work together. Flavorful Foundations™ integrates reading, writing, vocabulary, discussion, and skill reinforcement into one cohesive system.

This is one of the most important selling points in the entire ecosystem. A school using Amplify, HMH, Benchmark, or any other core literacy program can purchase the Intervention Pantry™ without adopting Flavorful Foundations™ as their core curriculum. The six shelves are designed to address universal literacy gaps regardless of what the student is using in their core instruction. The Flavor Gauge™ screener is sold separately for print-only users. Digital Kitchen™ subscribers have it built into the platform automatically.
Sales Tip
When a principal says they are locked into their current core curriculum but are struggling with intervention results, this is your opening. The Intervention Pantry™ does not require them to change their core program. It sits alongside whatever they are already using and targets the specific gaps their students have.
